Marquis Who’s Who has announced the recognition of John G. Roman III for his leadership in the health care sector and his contributions to medical technology. As a robotics clinical sales consultant with Intuitive Surgical Operations Inc., Mr. Roman supports advanced surgical care by training and guiding medical teams across New York. His work reflects a career grounded in service, discipline, and a sustained commitment to patient care and recovery.

At Intuitive Surgical Operations Inc., Mr. Roman supports, trains, and assists approximately 60 surgeons and more than 100 staff members across 12 hospitals from Syracuse to Potsdam. He works directly in operating rooms to help medical teams use robotic platforms safely and effectively. His responsibilities include clinical support, ongoing education, and helping hospitals build strong robotic surgery programs. He measures success by patient outcomes and by the confidence and readiness of the teams he supports.

Before joining Intuitive in 2025, Mr. Roman worked as an associate territory manager in the surgical devices division at Olympus Corp. from 2024 to 2025. This role gave him hands-on experience in medical device sales and helped him better understand how technology improves patient care. His transition into medical technology followed years of persistence, personal growth and a willingness to take risks to build a meaningful and stable career.

Mr. Roman’s path began in emergency medical services. From 2018 to 2024, he served as a paramedic, captain and emergency medical services operations manager with both Gates Volunteer Ambulance and Monroe Ambulance in Rochester. He also worked as a field training officer, CPR instructor, health and safety officer and advanced life support preceptor. These roles shaped his leadership style and strengthened his dedication to service. He advanced to the rank of captain and became a trusted mentor to colleagues while responding directly to medical emergencies.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Roman worked in finance and sales with organizations including JPMorgan Chase & Co., First Niagara Bank, Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company and Principal Financial Services. While he gained valuable professional skills during this time, he felt called to return to health care. He pursued paramedicine and earned an associate degree from Monroe Community College in 2020 after completing a Bachelor of Arts in political science, with concentrations in biology and philosophy, at the University of Rochester.

Making a Difference in Medical Technology

Mr. Roman’s move into medical technology came from a desire to blend patient care with long-term stability for his family. He committed himself to breaking into the industry through constant applications, interviews and learning what employers valued. He accepted a pay cut to gain experience, knowing it would position him for growth. That persistence led him first to Olympus and then to Intuitive, where his clinical background now strengthens his ability to support surgeons and staff.

Mr. Roman also understands the technology behind robotic surgery. Intuitive systems use a vision cart, a patient cart that houses the robotic arms and AI components, and a surgeon console that gives full control of the procedure. These platforms operate with built-in safety systems, constant monitoring and preventive maintenance. He works closely with engineers, hospitals and service teams to ensure reliability and patient safety at all times.

Outside of work, Mr. Roman dedicates time to civic involvement. He coaches youth football with the Greece Chargers and volunteers with Special Olympics programs. He enjoys spending time with his wife, his son John G. Roman IV and their four dogs. Looking ahead, he plans to grow within the field of medical technology, work independently as a consultant and one day pursue his dream of opening a small restaurant. His long-term goal remains one of building a strong legacy rooted in service, integrity and care for others.
