JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — October 7, 2025
Jacksonville Jaguars star quarterback Trevor Lawrence was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning on a charge of driving under the influence, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Police confirmed that the 25-year-old former No. 1 overall draft pick was pulled over shortly after 1:20 a.m. near downtown Jacksonville for a traffic violation. Officers say they conducted further checks and determined Lawrence was impaired.

“After further investigation, officers found Mr. Lawrence to be impaired and he was taken into custody without incident,” the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Lawrence was booked into jail later that morning and has since been released on bail. His attorney, Brian Barnes, offered a brief comment:

“We are gathering information and will have no further comment at this time.”

The Jacksonville Jaguars organization has not yet issued a formal response to the incident. The NFL is also expected to review the case, which could lead to disciplinary action depending on the outcome.

While fans expressed shock on social media, legal experts note that Lawrence will face a court hearing in the coming weeks, where the specifics of the charge will be addressed.

Next Steps
Lawrence’s court date has not yet been scheduled. If convicted, he could face fines, license suspension, or other penalties under Florida law. The NFL may also consider fines or suspensions as part of its personal conduct policy.
