VENICE, Calif. / April 24, 2024 — Rapper Post Malone is facing legal action following claims from a private security guard who alleges he was assaulted backstage during one of Malone’s California concerts in 2023.
The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court earlier this month, accuses the Grammy-nominated artist of punching the guard while attempting to escort Malone’s manager from the venue. The security guard is seeking damages for what he describes as an “unprovoked assault.”
In response, Malone’s legal team issued a firm denial.
“We are confident the claim is completely false and will be dismissed,” a spokesperson for Malone said in a statement.
The plaintiff’s attorneys, however, maintain their client suffered both physical and emotional harm as a result of the incident.
“Our client was simply performing his duties when he was physically attacked,” the legal filing states. “No one is above accountability, regardless of fame.”
Post Malone, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, has not personally commented on the case but continues his scheduled performances and public appearances.
The court will next review motions related to the admissibility of evidence. If the case proceeds, depositions are expected later this year. Legal experts note that such lawsuits involving high-profile entertainers often take months, if not years, before reaching resolution.
For now, Malone’s camp remains resolute in its defense while the security guard’s claims undergo judicial review.
