Metro City, Sept 21, 2025 – The highly anticipated 5G rollout across Metro City has been met with both enthusiasm and skepticism, as local officials push forward with ambitious connectivity plans while residents voice concerns over health, safety, and equitable access.

Telecom companies began installing high-speed 5G towers earlier this month, promising faster internet, improved smart city capabilities, and support for next-generation businesses. However, some residents have raised questions about the long-term effects.

“We welcome technological progress, but we cannot ignore public health concerns that many citizens are raising,” said Councillor Anita Verma, calling for more independent studies before full-scale implementation.

Industry representatives, however, dismiss these worries.

“5G technology is safe and has been cleared by global health bodies. What Metro City will gain is faster innovation, job creation, and stronger global competitiveness,” stated Rajesh Mehra, spokesperson for Telecom Authority of India.

Experts argue that misinformation has fueled unnecessary fear. Yet, community groups are pressing for more transparency and stricter regulations on tower placements, especially near schools and residential blocks.

Authorities have confirmed that the rollout will continue but assured residents that additional safety audits are underway. The city council is expected to hold a public hearing next month, where citizens can voice concerns and experts will present findings.
