Manchester, UK – Sept 13, 2025: Senegalese international and Nottingham Forest midfielder Cheikhou Kouyaté has accepted a conditional caution following an incident outside a Manchester nightclub early Sunday morning.
According to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), officers were called to a disturbance in the city centre, where it was alleged that the 34-year-old footballer made inappropriate contact with a female officer. While no charges have been filed, Kouyaté was issued a conditional caution to settle the matter.
A spokesperson for GMP confirmed:
“A 34-year-old man was spoken to in connection with an incident involving a female officer. Following enquiries, he accepted a conditional caution. The matter is now considered resolved.”
Kouyaté’s representatives, however, strongly denied any wrongdoing:
“Mr Kouyaté did not act inappropriately, and any contact that may have occurred was entirely unintentional. He has fully cooperated with the authorities, and this matter is now behind him.”
The incident comes at a difficult time for Kouyaté, who has been sidelined with a muscle injury, missing several recent fixtures for Nottingham Forest. Questions now remain over how this off-field episode could affect his playing career and standing at the club.
As of now, Nottingham Forest have not released an official statement, though club insiders suggest management is monitoring the situation closely. Social and legal observers note that while the caution avoids a formal criminal charge, the episode may still carry reputational consequences.
For Kouyaté, whose leadership in Senegal’s national team has long been praised, the expectation is that he will focus on recovery and work to move beyond the incident as the season progresses.
